Keeping the Cows Warm in the recent Cold Spelll

Still Cold Outside

This beef cow eats some hay along Bordwine Drive in Bristol, Virginia on Thursday.   Danny Reynolds rolled out three round bales for the cattle to feed on and use for bedding as he has for the past week of below freezing weather.  In addition, he adds grain to the feed to keep the beef cattle warm while they digest.  Reynolds will spend 6 hours a day checking and feed his cattle until the calves start to be born in the next 2-3 weeks when he will visit each of the three farms twice a day to check on mothers.
