New Family explores the grounds in Abingdon

This family of Geese were enjoying the sunny day in Abingdon, VA. While several other geese were still sitting on their nests this family was already teaching their 7 kids the art of swimming and getting food.

Blue Stocking Club celebrates 90th Anniversary

Tree Down, Building Up.

82 yr. old Curtis Stone stands next to his storage shed that was picked up by the roots of an Oak tree that was toppled during Sat. night storm. Stone and his wife, Geraldine, watched as the storm came acorss the open field behind their house. The contents of the shed, lawnmower, riding mover, and several other items were still in place after the building was lifted up.

Hurley High School- Austin Cooper is the Bristol Herald Courier Player of the Year. 17.4 point per game, 6.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists he hands out per contest.

Strong winds wreck havoc all around area

Herman Miller, right, and his grandson Ben Clark, look at the pine tree that fell in their yard off of Old Airport Road just after the strong winds and storm went through the area on Saturday evening. This was the third tall tree to fall over the years but, thankfully it fell away from their house and only damaged the power, phone and cable lines. The base of the tree appears to not have damaged the water and gas lines just to the left.
