Lakeem Scott gets Life in Prison

Lakeem Scott Pleads Guilty

Lakeem  Scott pleaded guilty in Sullivan County Court on Thursday.  Lakeem Scott was accused of killing Jennifer Rooney and injuring others in a July shooting spree along Volunteer Parkway. Lakeem Scott was sentenced to life in prison with no eligibility for parole for more than 50 years.

Blountville lights Christmas and Victims Remembrance Trees

This Wreath, right, holds ornaments from family of victims of violence from around the area stands in Blountville next to the Victims Remembrance Tree, left, on Thursday.  The tree and wreath were lit following the lighting of the Christmas Tree.  Ornaments remembering Officer Mark Vance, Trooper Barry Myers and Jennifer Rooney were among those remembered.

Sullivan County encrypts radio traffic

ENCRYPTION Radios

Sullivan County is working on encrypting all of its fire, police and EMS scanner traffic. Jim Bean, the county's Emergency Management Director, is reprogramming all the county radios to use encrypted channels by going to all the Fire Department stations.  Officer safety and hospital transmittions are some of the reasons for the change.
