The Steele Creek Splash Pad is set to open on Saturday.  New this year is the Rotary Pavillion with picnic area, drink machines, water fountain and restrooms.

Paddle the Day Away

Becky Delaney, front, moves out on Steele Creek Park Lake to meet her daughter, Abbey, who was paddling for the first time in her kayak that she received after graduating the 8th. grade and will be attending Sullivan East and making the Golf team.  The family is from Bluff City, Tennessee.

Plein Air Painters at Steele Creek

Northeast Tennessee Plein Air Painters

Leslie Davis of Kingsport, Tennessee was painting in oils with other members of the Northeast Tennessee Plein Air Painters on Tuesday inside Steele Creek Park.  The group of 5 artists started around 10 am and painted until 1:30 in the afternoon.  Some painted in oils and some in watercolors.  Locations are picked by the group and they try to go out and paint 2-3 times a week all around the TriCities including Scott County, Gate City and even Natural Tunnel Park.

Danika Hendricks, 5, walks briskly across the small dam at Steele Creek Park in the rain on Wednesday.  Hendricks family is from Erwin, Tennessee and was riding bikes around the park.  Danika just started riding without training wheels and was having a hard time keeping up in the rain and humidity.

Haley Brunty,11, and her brother Will Brunty, 3, were playing some soccer at Steele Creek Park on Wednesday in the warm weather. Haley thought it was warm enough for shorts and t-shirt where her brother was still in long pants and polarfleece shirt. The weather could get into the 70's later this week.
