Another Friday Protest in Abingdon

Albert Otti is against the planned project for a new shopping center and athletic fields along Green Springs Road in Abingdon near the Creeper Trail.  Otti uses his walker to walk around Abingdon and has a problem now with traffic not yeilding in crosswalks.  He feels the increase of traffic would keep him for even getting around.

Officer Mark Vance Memorial Ceremony

Northeast State and BMS create BMS Express

Claudia Byrd, Speedway Children's Charities, shows  school bus that is in the process of being converted into a railroad engine to carry people through Speedway in Lights.  Passengers can park their car and ride through the lights with the train horn blowing, snow (bubbles) falling  from the outside roof and train smoke blowing from under the bus while listening to christmas music playing from the speakers inside.

Celebrity bagging for United Way Fundraiser

Tiffany Goforth, United Southeast Federal Credit Union, places bagged groceries in a cart at the Euclid Avenue Food City on Tusday.  Local celebrities from throughout the region have volunteered their time and talents to bag groceries at the participating Food City locations.  Shoppers who wish to do so made a contribution to the United Way at the checkouts, via collection containers; or they could elect to have their contribution conveniently added to their grocery total.  All donations will benefit area United Way Campaigns. The United Way allocates resources to member agencies that address the most pressing human service needs.

Save the Creeper Trail Protest in Abingdon

Approx. 25 concerned citizens and members of the Friends of Abingdon group protested on Friday in Abingdon along Cummings Street against a proposed development along Green Springs Road  and the Creeper Trail.

Loading the Santa Train

Food and snacks are loaded into plastic bags that will be loaded onto the 73rd. Santa Train in Kingsport, Tennessee.  Food bags and toys were loaded into containers by volunteers at Food City on Wednesday evening to christmas music.  The Santa Train will run from Kentucky through Virginia and end in Kingsport, Tennessee with Santa passing out stuffed toys to children and others will be passing out small food bags to all the others at the stops along the way.

Burn Cell Units donated to Bristol Tennessee Fire Dept.

Lynnwood Wildlife Rehab Center in Elizabethton, Tennessee

Geri Wynn holds a squirrel that was brought into the WynnWood Wildlife rescue in Elizabethton, Tennessee.  They are trying to get the squirrel mobile again and getting the little one to eat and digest the food properly.

Second Harvest Project Thanksgiving
