Battle of Blountville 2017

Confederate Troops march to inspection prior to the Battle of Blountville on Saturday.  The 3 day event is held to remember the September 22, 1863 Battle of Blountville.  Over 100 reenactors were present for the Battle to be held on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

There is a new Dog in Town

The Bristol Tennessee Police Department has welcomed a new addition to the city's K9 unit and his name is Sonny.  Sonny is an 18-month-old yellow lab, and was acquired from Xtreme Concepts, Inc., a security solutions firm based in Birmingham, Alabama. Sonny will serve alongside his partner, Officer Chesney Griffin.

TSA tells how to travel with Firearms

TSA spokesman Mark Howell spoke at the TriCities Regional Airport on Tuesday about the correct way to carry firearms on airplanes.  Passengers can travel with firearms on airplanes but the Transportation Security Administration wants the weapons packed in seperate containers and have them with checked baggage NOT as a carry on.

Computer Gaming at Bristol Mall

The SWVA Gaming contest took place inside the Bristol Mall on Saturday.  Gamers came to compete against others in Super Smash Brothers, League of Nations and more sponsored by BVU.  Card games, silent auction, computer building contest, pinball and other activities were available.

Noah Coughlan, shown running down Lee Highway, is running across the country to bring attention to Run for Rare.org.  Coughlan is supporting rare diseases that effect everyone such as Batten Disease.  Batten disease is a fatal, inherited disorder of the nervous system that typically begins in childhood.
