Balloons for Lindsey

Friends and others gathered at Steele Creek Park on Saturday to have a balloon release for Lindsey Maiden who is still in the hospital after a car wreck and fire that is over a large portion of her body.  The two other occupants Heather Crumley and Madelyn Bennett have returned home with their injuries still showing.

New Chief at Healing Hands Dental

Wearing the hat of his new favorite University is Dr. William Hartel, Maj. US Army Reserves, will be running the Dental Clinic at Healing Hands in Bristol, Tennessee.  Dental students from University of Tennessee Dental School will be working in 4 week rotations at the Clinic.

Big Pink Wig campaign...

BigWigs for Susan G. Komen TriCities

-- Sherri Jessee, left, Carol Trammell, Shirley Carrier and Julie Bennett from the Bristol Area are wearing bright pink wigs throughout the area, all in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Susan G. Komen Tri-Cities ®.

The 2015 Susan G. Komen® Tri-Cities BigWig Challenge is being launched with a goal of raising a minimum of $16,000 to fund local breast cancer patient services and education programs. The campaign will run from August 1 to August 31, 2015.

King University Oval to be repaired

King University Oval Repair

King University Board of Trustee members Nell Bieger, left, and Peter Holler lean over and take up an old Brick to symbolize the ground breaking at the University to replace the Oval.  Gene McFarlane, also on Board of Trustees and Jewel Bell, Presidents Office at King University also pulled up Bricks on Tuesday.  First bricked in 1962, the Oval, which has seen much wear during the past few years, will be both expanded and restored. BurWil Construction Company began work on the restoration on Monday, July 27. The design for the restoration follows recommendations by the architects of Thompson and Litton, and the Brick Industry Association.

Garrett Kids talk about Mom and fundraising Bike event

Peyton and Madison Garrett. Their mom Penny Garrett died last year from a very rare cancer. They are again hosting the Creeper Trail Ride to End Cancer, which raises funds for cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
