Quaker Steak and Lube in Bristol

Jeff Tickle, co-owner Quaker Steak and Lube, talks about the business and how the idea was brought to Bristol and the future for the resturant in Bristol, Virginia.  A shell from the "War Wizard" hangs above the head of Tickle.   Quaker Steak and Lube  community pre-opening event on Monday in Bristol , Virginia.  The grand opening is set for June 4.  Shown are two of the many flavorings of wings that are available on the extensive menu.  Special nights are also being planned.  The resturant is motor sports themed with motorcycles, jet ski's, Cars and Trucks hanging from the ceiling.

Va. Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics

Buddy Moore leads the group of 25 runners on their way in support of the Virginia Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Virginia.  The local runners will continue to Wythe County on Saturday.  State wide the runs will all meet in Richmond for the Summer Olympics on June 6-8.

Police chase ends in Gunfire

The Washington County, VA. Sheriff's Dept, Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, TBI and other agencies were on the scene of a shooting on Highway 126 Thursday morning after a chase that began in Washington County, Virginia and ended in Tennessee.

Blountville getting fixed up

The Deery Inn in Blountville is in need of some tender care to fix problems that are  becoming an expensive problem.  Water leaks are causing siding to peal and mold to grow on the outside of the structure shown by Dennis Houser.

Historic Mural over half done

Artist Ellen Elmes continues to work on her wall mural in Downtown Abingdon on Wednesday.  The project started in July 2013 and is 2/3 completed.  Elmes is shown painting a section with part of the original drawing to serve as a guide.

"The Tent" goes up at Barter Stage II

The Robert E. Lee sign at RC's Storage along Lee Highway is getting a fresh coat of paint this week.  All the old paint was cracking and peeling so Dennis Elam, shown, and Ron Counts were scraping off the old and putting on the new.  The sign has been at the storage location since April 2010.
