Building the Bank Back in Glade

This old bank building in Glade Spring is in the process to being restored. Several sections of the inside tellers stalls have be located in the barn of resident Peggy Robinson.

1400 Trees replanted in Tornado Areas

Students from Patrick Henry High School help plant seedlings along Route 11 and Glove Drive in Glade Spring on Friday. The planting was part of the Russell and Washington County United Way & Long-Term Recovery program to replant the barrier trees that were damaged during the Tornado in 2011. Virginia Dept. of Forestry provided 1400 various seedlings for the project.

Cody Jill Keen arrived from Richlands with 12 bags of clothing at the JZ's convience store and Sunoco station. The store is collecting donations from 10-8 on Thursday for Glade Spring. Their Sunoco station in Glade Spring was destroyed in the storm and the Bristol store is helping.

Lt. Christina Teagarden, 760 Engineer Corp. Marion Va., talks about the Army Reserve group and their mission in helping with the victims in Glade Spring. They were on Stagecoach Road early Saturday morning removing debris. They have turned the mission into training by taking the real life storm damage and working the area as they would a bombed out town over in the middle east. Working the area for rebuilding.

One of 6 pallets of Water and other supplies are unloaded into the Glade Spring Fire Dept. on Saturday. Radio personality Brian Scott arrived at the Glade Spring Fire Dept. on Saturday with 10,000 lbs. of supplies for the victims of the storms. He is from Bristol and now lives and works in Winchester, Va. This was in response to the decline of FEMA for the area.
