Marion Runner

MARION, Va. – Marion senior Ethan Richardson of Marion runs with a mix of fury and intelligence.
According to heavy-hitting linebacker Dustin Tilson, Richardson relies on one other essential.
“Ethan is just tough,” Tilson said.
For the past three years, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Richardson has performed a tough-man act for the Scarlet Hurricanes.
Entering Friday’s playoff game at Tunstall, the resident of rural Sugar Grove, Va., has accounted for over 3,400 yards rushing and 39 touchdowns.
“It’s definitely been a fun ride,” Richardson said.
After a summer of sweat in the Marion weight room, Richardson has enjoyed the dividends as a senior.
He has rushed for 1,867 yards, breaking the school single-season yardage record of 1,482 formerly held by Kokie Wagner. The father of former Marion quarterback Marshall Wagner, Kokie is part of the chain crew during Scarlet Hurricanes football games.
